About the photographer
Born in Konya in 1969, Mehmet Geçit's interest in photography arose when he entered the Istanbul University Faculty of Communication Department of Journalism in 1995. During the years he was studying, he met photography at the university, his life follows this line from now on. He worked as an assistant for two years alongside his lecturers. While attending university, he met famous photographer Hasan Hüseyin and had the opportunity to improve his eyes. He took part in many big company shootings. The encounter with master photographer Hasan Hüseyin was very important: He spent three years in his studio to realize a strong and lasting friendship as well as an important apprenticeship. It was very difficult. Most of the assistants lasted only a week before escaping.
Mehmet Geçit said the following about his technique: My photography is more subtraction than addition. I always try to extract something. We all have some kind of expression mask. You say pretty jackal, you laugh, you are afraid. I take all these masks and try to remove them slowly until something pure is left. Some kind of abandonment, some kind of absence. It seems like an absence, but I actually think that inner beauty appears when this emptiness is present. This is my technique. Mehmet had the opportunity to work with many well-known companies.
